The Syrian Yazidi journalist, Jaber Jindo, said in a special statement to the "Shufi Mafi" radio station about the seminar for introducing the Yazidis held by Ezdina Organization under the title "I am a Yazidi, I invite you to get to know me", in the city of Raqqa, that these seminars and dialogue sessions come within the "Hope" project.
Jendo explained that the seminar is the fourth to be held under the title “I am the Yazidi, I invite you to get to know me,” as there were two seminars that were held online via the “Zoom” program and a third seminar held in the city of Hasaka, attended by many organizations and personalities of the city.
Jendo added that Ezdina Organization aims, through this project, to increase the awareness of the local community about the Yazidi identity and to strengthen the rapprochement between the religious, national and ethnic components of northeastern Syria.
Jendo continued that they are working through seminars to remove the stereotype that others have formed of the Yazidi religion, and the rapprochement between ethnicities and nationalities living in northeastern Syria, especially in the city of Raqqa.
The fourth seminar in Raqqa was attended by more than eighty activists, members of civil society institutions, in addition to social figures.
Jendo explained that the city of Raqqa is of great importance to the Yazidis and a painful memory, as more than three thousand Yazidis lived in Raqqa under the control of the "ISIS" terror organization, as Yazidi women were sold in this city.
Jendo confirmed that, by attending in the city of Raqqa, he wanted to say that this city was and still is the city of brotherhood and peace, and the people of Raqqa are not guilty of what “ISIS” did of heinous acts, and that ISIS represents itself as a radical extremist organization and does not represent the people of Raqqa, because the people of Raqqa love brotherhood and peace.
Jendo confirmed that they tried in this seminar to convey the essence of the Yazidi religion and its culture to attendees, as it was emphasized during the seminar that the Yazidis are a religion and not a sect belonging to one of the religions, and that it is a religion that extends for more than five thousand years, and that everything that is said about their worship of Satan is false.
Jendo added that the Yazidis are monotheists who unite God, the one and only, and they have many names for God that exceed a thousand names, and one of these names is “Ezi or Khoda” which means the one who created himself, and the Yazidis derive their name from God.
Jendo noted that the Yazidis suffered greatly in terms of social and religious, as the Yazidis were deprived of all their rights in Syria and were not recognized in Syria either as a religion.
Jendo indicated that they need to introduce the Syrian community to the Yazidis and their ancient religions that unite God and believe in the angels and messengers.
The Yazidi journalist concluded that they received a great response from the people of Raqqa and its intellectuals, and a good reception and love for knowledge, which is not far from them being one people, pointing to the seminar that was the beginning of introducing the people of Raqqa to the Yazidis, and explaining the injustice they and the people of Raqqa were subjected to at the hands of ISIS.
